The libretto for "THE DECKHAND: An Arctic Sea Opera," a contemporary reimagining of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner," is structured in 27 musical sections, including solos, ensembles, choral passages, rhythmic dialogue, environmental soundscapes, and several larger theatrical sequences.
I’m particularly interested in finding a composer comfortable with contemporary opera, theatrical experimentation, electronic or synthesized sound, and the integration of environmental sound into music (wind, waves). Selected libretto excerpts are below. If this sounds like a project you may be interested in, or if you know a composer who may be interested, please send this along and they can get in touch with me through the CONTACT page
