THE PLAYWRIGHT
I write plays, operas, adaptations and theatrical works that utilize realism, satire and the surreal (not always together). My work often places ordinary people in situations where life as they know it, is beginning to crack either socially, morally or literally. What happens when the rules we live by no longer apply? No matter the setting: the mountains of Appalachia, a city bridge on a winter night, a doomed ship in the arctic ocean, a seedy bar, a theater in London in 1895, I write from the perspective of what I learned growing up in the streets of Somerville, Massachusetts, with all its irreverence and dark humor, a place I will always call home.
